In addition to his extensive work on stage, Randolph has also pursued teaching and choreography. From 2006-2009, Randolph was a faculty member of the North Carolina Dance Theater’s summer intensive program. While living in Saarbrücken, Germany from 2011-2017 Mr. Ward taught hip-hop, jazz, and African dance classes as part of the Saarläandisches Staatatheater’s open class series.In his professional career, Randolph has danced works by choreographers including, but not limited to Ohad Naharin, Alonzo King, Jiri Kylian, Septime Weber, George Balanchine, Alexander Ekman, and Dwight Rhoden. Randolph has danced leading roles as ‘The Nutcracker Prince’ and ‘Snow King’, in The Nutcracker, ‘Principal Mens Regiment’ in Stars and Stripes, ‘Jester in La Sonnambula, ‘Phlegmatic’ in The Four Temperaments, ‘Prince’ in Cinderella, and his favorite, ‘Mercutio’ in Romeo & Juliet by Dominic Walsh.
Randolph was featured on Pointe Magazine’s 2003 V.I.P. List and was nominated for the Princess Grace Award in 2002. He was also the 2005-2006 Columbus Arts Council Choreographic Winner for his piece When Death Knocks. He has been reviewed in Dance Magazine by noted dance critic Nancy Wozny who said of Randolph’s performance in The Afternoon of a Faun: “Randolph Ward’s animal-like prowess gives the piece its bite”.
In 2017, his work GAG: A Vogue Extravaganza premiered in Saarbrücken, Germany at the national theater’s historic Alter Feuerwache with dancers of the Saarländisches Staatstheater. In 2018, Randolph served as principal choreographer at Miramar Cultural Arts Center’s Little Broadway Summer Camp presentation of Mary Poppins Jr. He also created a new work for Dimensions Dance Theater of Miami’s 2019 Lab Theater Series entitled “What makes a man”? Randolph Ward is the creator, producer, and choreographer of the dance evening A Vogue Extravaganza, featuring a cast of 9 men, 3 woman, and 2 emerging Miami drag icons. This evening premiered March 1, 2019, at the Little Haiti Cultural Arts Complex and was featured on 91.3 NPR by WLRN reporter Nadege Green. Mr. Ward is a 2019-2020 Miami-Dade Cultural Affairs Choreographs’ (DMC) Award recipient.
